Membership Process
If you’ve read the introductory articles – Who We Are and Why Join -- and decided that you’d like to join our organization, here are the steps in applying for membership:
Requirements for Membership
Those seeking to join the Corinthians will need a statement of recommendation from a Sponsor and two Endorsers and approval of a representative of the intended Fleet, and an application from the candidate, including a description of boating experience (e.g., sailing, cruising , racing, and the like).
Steps in Applying for Membership
If you do not know any club members, contact the Membership Chair at membership@thecorinthians.or or click Membership Inquiryand submit your membership inquiry.
We’ll have a member in your area contact you and arrange a meeting, so you may ask questions about the Association and participating in activities. We will invite you to meet come members who could potentially be your Sponsor and Endorsers.
That’s the informal part of the process. Now for the more formal part. You may apply for membership by clicking Online Application The application is not very lengthy, and perhaps the most important part is free-form – your sailing resume. If resume sounds a bit fancy, what we’re really looking for is an outline of your sailing experience, time on the water, types of boats, crew or skipper, and so forth.
The Membership Committee will review your application and recommendations from your Sponsor, Endorsers, and the Fleet Captain of your proposed fleet. The membership will then be given an opportunity to comment on your application.
Your Sponsor and Endorses are your guides during this time. They will help to get you acclimated to the club, introduce you to other members, and invite you to club events as a guest. If you have any questions about the membership process or your account or if you need to update any information on your application form, please contact your Sponsor or me.
Following a review by the Afterguard, you will be notified of the outcome. Upon acceptance, you will be invited to complete the membership process by logging in to the website and submitting the membership payment, comprised of a membership entrance fee and first year's dues. The full process may take between a month and three months from the time of your first inquiry. During this time, you are welcome to join in with any activities either on shore on on-the-water.
After your membership is completed, you will receive a welcome letter from the Master and a welcome packet with some Corinthians swag.
Congratulations – you’re now a member of a group of experienced and personable sailors. Now what?
First and foremost – participate! Call one of your member contacts and ask when the next event is. If it fits your schedule, register for an event, and start meeting your fellow Corinthians.
We hope to see you soon!
Kind Regards,
